History

















Since we founded the business in 1964, we’ve expanded and acquired some of the UK’s leaders in their own specialist print, display and marketing solutions fields.

We count some of the most prestigious companies in our rich portfolio. Data marketing, books, field marketing, direct response, commercial print, event and display and outdoor media industry... we lead them all.

St Ives Group products and services are the most comprehensive within the UK’s marketing services, print and display markets. Our 2,700 professionals work across 16 UK based sites. All have one common goal – to deliver state-of-the-art service and product at the most competitive price.

Timeline

1964


Business founded. Primarily operated sheet fed print.

1968


Organically grew traditional commercial print capabilities and capacity to become one of the UK's leading commercial print companies.

1972


Short run web offset magazine capability introduced.

1983


Long run magazine and commercial printing introduced that would become St Ives Web.

1985

Clays History
Group acquired one of the UK's leading book production companies, Clays.
Company floated on LSE in September. Visit Publishing Services.

Between 1985 and 1989 


Several acquisitions were made in books, short/medium run magazines, financial, direct response and commercial print and printing for the music industry.

Early 1990s


During 1990, sites were consolidated to improve efficiency, increase productivity and ultimately increase capacity.

1995


The company expanded its direct response and commercial activities into Europe and the US.

1998

St Ives Direct HistoryAcquired Hunters Armley, a UK print group based in Bradford, Bristol, Leeds and London with web and sheet facilities servicing the direct mail, mail order, retail, financial and commercial markets. Acquired Avanti/Case-Hoyt, based in Miami, a general commercial printer that was integrated with the other US businesses.

2004

SP Group History

ConnectedForward
Introduced Forward Thinking & Connected Thinking business and IT consultancy.

The business sold its operations outside the UK to concentrate on its core UK market.
