Clays helps to reinvent timeless classics
Date Added: Fri 8 October 2010
With a history spanning more than 65 years Penguin Classics
are an instantly identifiable series with well over 1,200 titles in publication.
In Cctober 2008 Penguin and Clays embarked upon a redesign of 10 hardback titles including Pride and Prejustice and Gret Expectations.
Working closely with award winning designer, Coralie Bickford-Smith, and the publisher’s production team, Clays successfully managed tight lead times, limited stock availability and challenging foil designs to produce over 50,000 books on time and to a very high standard.
In August 2009 a further 80,000 copies of ten new titles were comissioned to join the exclusive Cloth Bound list.
The commercial success, attributed to the excellent quality of design and manufacturing, alongside quick and consistent turnarounds, have allowed the publisher to integrate the once exclusinve and special edition Cloth Bound Classics into their trade list.
Three titles, Dante's inferno, A Christmas Carol and Gulliver’s Travels have been planned for publication in 2010.
